Many months ago I was honored to be asked by the wonderful ladies of Crabapple Hill Studio to participate in something very special. Meg Hawkey wanted to make a quilt that would be donated to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Meg started talking about the idea with a couple of fabric vendors and soon she received boxes of fabric from the leading fabric manufacturers (Free Spirit/Westminster Fabrics, Lakehouse Dry Goods, Lecien Fabrics, Marcus Brothers Fabrics, Maywood Studios, Moda Fabrics, Quilting Treasures and RJR Fabrics.) As word spread, Fairfield contributed batting and Checker Distributors and Sakura of America donated pink pens for the signature blocks.
Then Meg decided to ask other designers to get involved. And that’s where I came in. This is the block I was so excited to contribute.
Each designer was asked to use the donated fabrics, but to make their blocks in a way that reflected their own personal style. My block uses appliqué, embroidery, beading and a little bit of wool.
The quilt is titled “Forget-Me-Not” in remembrance of those whom we’ve lost to breast cancer and those who are struggling now.
These are the other designers that contributed to the quilt:
Alex Anderson
Alma Allen, Blackbird Designs
Judith Baker-Montano
Eleanor Burns, Quilt in a Day
Amy Butler, Amy Butler Designs
Teri Christopherson, Black Mountain Quilts
Virgina Cole, Galloping Pony Studio
Kim Diehl
Annie Downs, Hatched and Patched
Barri Sue Gaudet, Bareroots
Joanna Figueroa, Fig Tree Quilts
Becky Goldsmith, Piece-o-Cake
Barbara Groves, Me & My Sister Designs
Nancy Halvorsen, Art to Heart
Meg Hawkey, Crabapple Hill
Bronwyn Hayes, Red Brolly

Linda Jenkins, Piece-o-Cake
Robin Kingsley, Bird Brain Designs
Verna Mosquera, The Vintage Spool
Marie Osmond, Quilting Treasures
Brenda Riddle, Acorn Quilt & Gift Company

Anne Sutton, Bunny Hill Designs
As you can see, it is quite a talented list of women and the final quilt is stunning!
I got to see the quilt in person in Pittsburgh. It is awesome. The back of the quilt features signature blocks from each designer placed to coincide with their block on the front of the quilt. The quilting is beautiful – it was donated by Debbi Trevino of Village Quiltworks. To finish off the quilt, the girls at Crabapple Hill added a feminine pleated border/binding instead of traditional binding.
This quilt could be yours!!! Click on the Forget-Me-Not Quilt Raffle widget over in my sidebar (watch it for a minute – it rotates through all the blocks!)
